Abstract: Die vorliegende Untersuchung widmet sich der Frage, wie die Industriearbeiterschaft in Deutschland entstanden ist. „Wir verstehen unter der Industriearbeiterschaft Menschen, die in Industriebetrieben körperliche Arbeit verrichteten, die sich in einer bestimmten sozialen Lage befanden und die im Allgemeinen – wenigstens in ihren Führern – eine gemeinsame, gesellschaftspolitische (sozialdemokratische) Überzeugung hatten.
