Abstract: Die Wittgensteiner Familiendatei enthält die verwandtschaftlichen Beziehungen von über 150.000 Personen. Die meisten von ihnen haben in dem früheren Kreis Wittgenstein (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Bundesrepublik Deutschland) gelebt. Von einzelnen Personen sind auch Vorfahren oder Nachkommen erfasst, die außerhalb dieser Region gewohnt haben.
Die in den Kirchenbüchern Wittgensteins nachgewiesenen Personen und Daten sind für die Zeit vor 1875 vollständig übernommen, verknüpft und geprüft. Die Datei enthält Ergänzungen aus anderen Quellen.
